Uploading Photos to Flickr

There are 5 simple ways to upload your photos and videos to Flickr

  • via the Flickr Uploadr (available for both PC and Mac)
  • via iPhoto, Aperture, or Windows XP plugins
  • via our upload web page
  • via email
  • via various free third-party desktop programs

We recommend finding what’s best for you to save you time, but for folks new to Flickr, here’s a simple step-by-step guide:

Step 1:  Create an account or sign-in to your Flickr account

Step 2:  Click “Upload Photos and Video”

Step 3:  Choose the photo or photos (you can batch import) that you want to upload

Step 4:  Choose “Public” so everyone can see them

Step 5:  Click the “Upload Photo” button

Step 6:  Click “Add a description perhaps” and enter the title, description AND TAGS for your photo*

Step 7:  Hit the “Add” button!

* Remember to Tag EACH Video and Photo You Upload

To ensure we can easily find and share all of the campaign-related content, we have a tagging structure that is super easy, but super essential.  Tags are keywords that you can add to the content you put online to make it easier to find.  For each piece of content that you upload, make sure that you always have the following tags:

  • GPTF, STAND, 2009, [Senator Name], [State Abbreviation]
  • message OR interview OR testimony OR b-roll

Example tags for a personal message that requests Senator Dodd to support legislation to prevent genocide would read:

  • GPTF, STAND, 2009, Dodd, CT, message
