Choose Your Editing Tool

First thing to do when selecting your editing tool is to see if you have it installed already on your computer.  Once you know what you have for free, then start asking your friends or folks in relevant departments on campus what they use and recommend – and see if they can help get you started.  These mini-guides describe and provide primary resources for the most common options for video editing.  Click on yours and get started!

Non-linear editing tools are much more complex and expensive than what may come on your Windows or Mac computer.  If you require multi-track editing, more complex titles or special effects, you might consider non-linear editing software, such as:
